The works in constructed nature are an exploration of the natural landscape. A perception of landscape, not as just a natural place in time, but nature effected by time and humankind.
The floor and wall sculptures combine aspects of traditional landscape painting, ceramic sculpture, collage and contemporary color and form. These artworks, composed of a variety of materials (glazed ceramic, painted fabric, resin, wood and concrete) can be seen as a sculptor’s rendering of the natural world at an intersection of the traditional and present.

This body of sculpture consists of artworks observing perceptions of our natural environment. I’m interested in exploring the discrepancy between the groomed environment we encounter through media and commerce contrasted to the reality of our delicate and easily fractured physical spaces.
These large floor and wall sculptures incorporate a variety of materials; painted fabric, resin, foam, wood and steel. Each of the artworks is anchored by natural forms (tree, boulder, stump) and is fabricated from white glazed ceramic. The white ceramic appears as a ghostly and fragile construct: an authentic environment. Winter reflects a passage of time, hibernation and dormancy, and even peril.

This body of work is based on an exploration of traditional Chinese Scholar's Rocks. Chinese Scholar's Rocks are elaborate naturally formed stones and are viewed as reflections of the natural world: contemplative and balanced. My pieces emerge from these aesthetics and infuse characteristics of contemporary environments. With color, text, scale and a myriad of material clashing together, these artworks are the ancient and the current bumping and bursting, mashed into one.

A series of sculptures in which carved and painted wood forms are combined with nickel plated cast bronze or aluminum elements. These new constructions appear to be products of grafting or explosion. The end result is a hybrid sculpture, incorporating glittering polished forms, stencil work with glossy, vibrant wood structures seemingly plucked from woodpiles and anime.

Forts, traps, and castles - re-creations of childhood constructions, rooted in pretend and make-believe, fortified with adult themes of permanence, obsession and value. The result is a hybrid of the care-free and the care-full, structures and objects that reference the child’s world of spontaneous fantasy while standing firmly in the world of “grown-up” contingency.

An exploration of the everyday. Physically, the pieces carry the history of the process, as marks and appendages from the mold to the foundry often remain. Contextually, the combination of these objects forces a focus on form and create new narratives.
